APRIL BOARD MEETING

The April 2010 DAYAA Board Meeting will be held on Monday April 12th at 6:30 PM in Room A101 of the Senior High School. We will be making the final preparations for the start of the 2010 baseball and softball season.

GIRLS SOFTBALL PITCHING CLINIC

The next DAYAA Girls softball pitching clinic will be SUNDAY, APRIL 11, from 3 to 4 pm @ Derry High School Gym.

Other sessions are as follows:

Sunday, April 18 from 4 to 5 p.m. @ Derry HS Gym

Sunday, April 25 from 4 to 5 p.m. @ Derry HS Gym

Sunday, May 2 from 4 to 5 p.m. @ Derry HS Gym

GIRLS SOFTBALL PLAYER ASSESSMENT

Parents and Girls:

DAYAA Girls Softball MANDATORY player assessments will be held on Sunday, April 11, 2010, from 4 to 6 p.m. This is being done so that teams can be fairly selected. Each girl will be required to swing a bat, run to first base, throw the ball, field a ground ball, and catch a fly ball.

PLACE: Grandview Softball Field (Derry High School Gym if inclement weather)

If it is raining on Sunday, April 11, can we have gym until 7:30 PM so assessment may run past 6:00 PM.

BRING: Bat, glove, helmet, and spikes (gym shoes if we are indoors)

TIME: League Age on 12/31/2009

7, 8, & 9 year olds arrive by 4:00 p.m. (assessments will be done from 4 to 4:40 p.m.)

10 & 11 year olds arrive by 4:40 p.m. (assessments will be done from 4:40 to 5:20 p.m.)

12, 13, & 14 year olds arrive by 5:20 p.m. (assessments will be done from 5:20 to 6:00 p.m.)

*If you have a younger or older sibling, you can choose either time and come together

The girls will be contacted on the evening of April 14, 2010, to let them know which team they are on as well as the their first practice.

If you are a parent who also signed up to manage/coach, please arrive at 3:45 p.m. to help set-up the assessment stations and plan to stay for the entire assessment session. Managers/Coaches will be meeting on Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the Press Box at the Derry Little League Baseball Field for team selection.

2010 DAYAA TRYOUTS TIME CORRECTION

Please note that there was an error in the time for the 2010 DAYAA tryouts for Sunday, March 14. The tryouts will be from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM at the High School gym. Sorry for the confusion.

2010 DAYAA BASEBALL TRY-OUTS

DAYAA will hold its 2010 baseball tryouts on Saturday, March 13 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM and again on Sunday, March 14 from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at the Derry Area High School gymnasium. You must be registered with the league to be eligable to sign up. You may sign up the day of try-outs but it is prefereed that those players wishing to try-out pre-register on one of the days listed below.

2010 DAYAA BASEBALL & SOFTBALL SIGNUPS

DAYAA will be holding their 2010 signups for girls softball and boys and girls baseball on Saturday, February 27 from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM and again on Monday, March 1 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Derry Rod & Gun Club.

Girls between the ages of 7 and 14 as of January 1, 2010 are eligable to play girls softball.

Boys and girls between the ages of 5 age 12 as of April 30, 2010 are eligable to play baseball.

Remember that all boys and girls are welcome regardless of where they reside. We have no boundaries.

FEBRUARY BOARD MEETING

The February board meeting for the DAYAA will be held on Monday, February 15th in Room 101 of the Derry Area High School. We will be voting on major league coaches for the 2010 season. Please plan on attending this meeting if you would like to be considered for a coache's position on one of our six major league teams.

JANUARY BOARD MEETING

The January board meeting for the DAYAA will be held on Monday, January 18th in Room 101 of the Derry Area High School. We will be voting on new managers for all teams. Please plan on attending this meeting if you would like to be considered for a manager's position on one of our six major league teams.

Don't forget about the 2010 winter conditioning program that started last week.

DAYAA WINTER CONDITIONING

DAYAA has scheduled the 2010 winter conditioning program for boys and girls at the Derry Area High School gymnasium. The program will start this Sunday, January 10. Girls softball conditioning is for girls ages 7 through 14 and will run from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Baseball conditioning for ages 7, 8 and 9 will be from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM followed by conditionign for 10, 11, and 12 year olds from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. Registration cost is $30 per child or $50 per family for each respective program. Winter conditioning will run every Sunday through March 7th with the exception of February 7th. Please bring gym shoes, a ball glove, and a favorite bat.

Please do not wear your gym shoes to and from conditioning. The winter weather makes for a big mess in the gym if we do not carry our gym shoes to practice.

It is always a great idea to get the cob webs out and and get ready for the upcoming 2010 ball seasons. Hope to see you all there.

NEXT SCHEDULED MEETING

DECEMBER MEETING

The December board meeting is scheduled for Monday the 21st at 6:30 at the Derry High School in room 101 across from the entrance to the Library. All board members should make an attempt to attend. Those interested in managing and coaching a major team next year should attent this meeting. These meeting are open to the public so if you have questions, suggestions or would just like to attend please feel free to do so.

The following officers were elected for 2010. President - Ron Hamacher, Vice President - Eric Tepper, Secretary - Brandy Bisi, Treasurer - Mike Angus. Remaining board members will be announced later.

Teams are reminded to turn in all uniforms. It was suggisted that Senior Legion may come under D.A.Y.A.A. next year.
