Derry 3 West Hempfield 2 This was the first win for our Junior Legion team. They pulled it out in the seventh inning giving a very good West Hempfield team it second loss. Derry record now 1 win 4 loses
This team is making a statement in the Westmoreland junior legion league by beating teams with more experience and older players. They recently took two games from Jeannette 12 to 2 and 11 to 1 in five innings due to the ten run rule making it three wins in a row.
Play-offs start --- Derry defeated Jeannette 5 to 4 to advance to the second round behind the pitching of Alex Mylant. John Ray had a triple and Rob Hebenthal went 3 for 3. Derry lost a close game to West Hempfield in the second round 8 to 5.
